About Me

So, who am I?  Good question…

My name is Sharon. Among many things, I’m a wife and a mom and missionary to my kids. I have been married to my husband, Jerry since 1994.  I got married when I was 23 years old and honestly, it was probably the best choice I could have made. I have always had my head screwed on pretty well, but at the age of 23, I was young and naive and in debt and had dropped out of college.  So getting married grounded me.  It was just what I needed. The funny thing is that my husband is younger than I am.  So many people thought it would never last… but here we are… still married, homeowners and the parents of two young men, ages 18 and 20.  So far so good!  Jerry’s had some medical trials over the past few years and in 2010 was diagnosed with CHF and had a pacemaker/defibrillator put in in the fall of 2014.  I was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and following chemo and radiation and surgery, I’m finally starting to get my life under control.  It’s been a crazy ride, but… I think that it makes us value our time and lives together.   No one has any guarantees, and we’re no different.  We strive to make the most of each and every day.

Not much else to say. I’m pretty simple. I grew up in the church and never really knew anything else. Some people say that I’m sheltered or that I’m still naive for sticking with the faith of my childhood.  But you know, I’ve read the books, researched the ideologies, and had the conversations, and call it what you will, I believe what I believe. And I like it that way.  It’s done well by me so why would I want to change that?  Life is not easy and mine has moments where it is very complicated. But does that mean that I insist that my faith re-invent itself? Or do I alter my beliefs in order to explain the oddities and issues of my life?  I don’t think so…

And with that said… here are my thoughts as I work out life, parenthood, being a working mom, a wife, and a maturing woman of God. Welcome to my world, feel free to slip on a pair of my rose-colored glasses and join me on the ride…

    – Oh and remember— when you are really, really frustrated by your 2 younger guys, just keep saying ” I want grandchildren, I want grandchildren” because when you reach that point it is a sort of Heaven on earth. It is SO MUCH FUN being a grandparent I cant begin to tell you.
    Hang in there Sharon!

    1. Ha! Thanks for the normal vote. I try. Just last night I figured out how to update the link on the gravitar/wordpress link. Sorry for the mix up. I did change the name. I was working on the name and anyway you look at it, it sounds a little risque. So I opted for alliteration thinking it would tame it down a bit!
